The Night Queen is a music theatre play for 6-12 year-olds inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute and created by Hoopla Productions in association with The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry. It toured in 2011 and 2013. Please explore this site for more information and for activities around the play.

And here’s a little tune to get you in the mood: Feathery Fun. Or listen to this Forest Threat to hear what scares Pamina in the forest. You can also take a look at some photos of the show – they really are fab!
The Night Queen first opened at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry in May 2011 and ran for 2 weeks, taking in both family and school performances. This was followed by a short but successful tour. The play received good reviews and great audience feedback (97% positive) – thank you to all of you!
We then remounted the play as part of The Night Queen Returns with some changes and additional education work around the play, once again in the fabulous Belgrade B2 space. We also took the play to Tamworth Assembly Rooms, where we worked with the Art Team on a range of participation activities around the production.
Following the success of The Night Queen we created the play Three Witches, which opened at the Belgrade in October 2013.
